MUGA Sports Court — Nottinghamshire
Multi-use games area (MUGA) marking for a secondary school in Nottinghamshire — football, basketball, netball, and tennis court layouts marked on a new macadam surface, ready for the summer term.
About This Project
A secondary school in Nottinghamshire had a new multi-use games area (MUGA) installed as part of a wider sports facility upgrade. The macadam surface was laid by a separate contractor, and Markex was appointed to carry out the court marking scheme. The school required a full multi-sport layout that would allow the MUGA to be used for football, basketball, netball, and tennis — maximising the facility's value for PE lessons and after-school clubs.

The MUGA surface had been laid to a tight schedule and the school needed the court markings completed before the start of the summer term. The multi-sport layout required careful planning to ensure all four court types could be accommodated on the available surface area without the markings becoming confusing or overlapping in a way that made individual sports difficult to play.
How Markex Delivered
Markex worked with the school's PE department to design a multi-sport layout that maximised the MUGA's usability. Each sport was assigned a distinct line colour to avoid confusion: white for football, yellow for basketball, blue for netball, and green for tennis. All markings were applied using two-part road paint for durability on the macadam surface. The work was completed in a single day, with the MUGA ready for use at the start of the summer term.
What We Achieved
- Full multi-sport MUGA layout completed in a single day
- Four sports accommodated: football, basketball, netball, and tennis
- Colour-coded lines for each sport to avoid confusion
- Ready for use at the start of the summer term
- Two-part road paint for long-term durability on macadam surface
